NEW SONG and Have You Heard of Freddy? (07/01/2018)

Hello!

This email is mostly going to be about Freddy, but there are also a treat at the end STOP SCROLLING GET BACK HERE.

This past week I came down with a cold, and that means video game time. That's how I discovered Freddy. Freddy Fazbear, that is, from the game "Five Nights at Freddy's." It's a horror game - you play a nighttime security guard at a Chuck E. Cheese type place, and it turns out the singing animatronic mascots are terrifying murderous robots (uh, isn't that true in real life?). It was massively successful, prompting 4 sequels within two years, two novels, spin-offs, and a feature length Hollywood movie that's currently in production.

But I don't actually care much for that part :)

What I find fascinating and inspiring is how this game came to be. See, this dude had created a wholesome game called "Chipper & Sons Lumber Co." It was not good, and much of the bad feedback focused on the animals, which looked like horrifying animatronics. Sound familiar?

At first, like most of us would be, he was pretty bummed. But unlike most of us, he took the negative feedback and turned it into a massive hit by making what was wrong even wronger. SO wrong that it became great. And it got me thinking...

What do I do that's bad? What am I terrible at? Instead of trying to make it better, could I use its badness to create something awesome?

And that's the question I pose to you. What do you do that kind of sucks? Can you turn it into something great, not by improving it but by accentuating what's "wrong" with it?

So here's a new song that I promised to release today because I knew I couldn't finish it. Because that's the thing I'm worst at - finishing things. So what would happen if I purposely released a song I wasn't able to finish?

The result is something I'm really proud of. It's called "Bounce" and you're the only ones who get to hear it. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Much more coming this Summer
